Winter Montenegro

Sometimes you just can't reason with those who assign you to work for them and this commission to produce a travel feature on Montenegro was a classic case of an editor under pressure to extract a 12 picture story for publication in spring the following year. As much as I rise to challenge this was one of those difficult to see where it would end up as we were dispatched in freezing December. The less said the better! My dear friend and travel companion Jacques Maigne, writer and bon-vivant, and I set off in search of producing something at least to show for our short sojourn in this country nestled between Albania and the ex Yugoslavia which boasts a lovely coastline now being ruined by the inevitable nouveau riche condos. When told the day before leaving that the trip was curtailed to seven days including travel my reaction was one of horror. Short days, long nights and sub zero temperatures with which we faced this quest taught me never again would I take up a 'rescue mission' of this nature. I offer it for viewing here as I'm pleased with what I managed to achieve in what boiled down to 5 days of a maximum of 7 hours daylight per day.
