As a photojournalist my approach to travel photography has been to capture scenes of real life situations as they happen as setting them up is a taboo in journalism. I'm sometimes surprised by pictures I see in travel reviews of places I have been to yet don't recognise for the aforementioned reason.
That said, the commercial assignments I have undertaken for hotels and travel companies such as France's Accor Group and their luxury hotel chain Sofitel required arranging scenes as close to reality as possible. When Sofitel's art director approached me to shoot their new web campaign we decided to try a mixture of my photojournalism approach with a little careful arrangement of extraneous elements which often spoil a photo's aesthetic value.
I like to feel my reportage approach lends a charm to the work produced in as much as the following images are totally uncontrived, captured as the moment spontaneously arises.
These 30 selected images are from corporate and editorial assignments alike.
